Board Glossary

Administrator:
An OOC authority who is involved with the development of the rules and mechanics of the game, as well as has been named as responsible for upholding the quality and standards of the community. The Administrators are the senior staff of the game, and answer to a council of their peers consisting of their fellow Administrators, led by the Administrative Lead.

Arrest:
A Player's Character is "locked" from their access and is considered to be immobilized and at the mercy of the Character's own MasterGroup. If the Character is in command of a unit or located at a facility owned by their MasterGroup, they are subject to Arrest. Arrest is automatic upon a Moderator's RECEIPT of an Arrest order from the MasterGroup Leader (or pre-designated proxy). IC, it is assumed that the relevant authorities or burly thugs have received the Arrest order and have taken steps to catch the Character unawares and subdue him or her. NPC units and facilities remain loyal to the MasterGroup. Once Arrested, the Player may not pass on IC information to other Players or Characters unless so permitted by the Arresting MasterGroup authorities. Violation of this is grounds for Banishment or lesser penalties.

Banishment (Banning):
Administration-enforced removal of a Player from the community. There is no present “expiration-date” on a Banning; Banishment is permanent. Common reasons for Banishment are extreme or recurrent violations of the community’s rules and Laws.

Board:
A web page organized to host multiple discussion forums. Commonly, each Board has a dominant "theme": In-Character community activities and interactions, Out-of-Character information, assistance, and appeals, Imperial Organization, Rebel Organization, Hutt Organization, etc.

Category:
A specific sub-set of the Board. Categories typically handle specific Player interests or actions, such as scenario participation, unit cohesion or definition, technical support, or similar.

Character:
The “avatar” or personality of a Player when participating in the narrative of the game; your “game-face”.

Death:
This occurs when a Player's Character has been killed through the course of IC interaction. Death most commonly comes once the Character has been reduced to -10 wound points in a Scenario. Death may also occur through Execution. Once Death occurs, a Player is free to recreate a brand new character in three week's time. The Player's new Character will be issued 1/3rd of the experience points of the Player's last Character by the Administration. Any Player making use of privileged information from their "previous life" to benefit their new Character may face Banishment. A Rebel Officer Arrested, tried, and sentenced to Execution while preparing to inform on his Rebel peers may not re-create as an Imperial, receive his 1/3rd experience, and then present the Empire with the information the Rebel Character possessed. This is a violation of the community rules and Laws. A Hutt Syndicate Smuggler killed scouting a new system may not create a new Character and provide reconnaissance information gained by the Player’s previous Character.

Execution:
At the decision of the MasterGroup authorities, a Character who is a member of their MasterGroup may be Executed, which immediately induces Death. Execution is automatic upon a Moderator's RECEIPT of an Execution order from the MasterGroup Leader (or pre-designated proxy). IC, it is assumed that the relevant authorities or murderous assassins have received the Execution order and have taken steps to catch the Character unawares and eliminate him or her. NPC units and facilities remain loyal to the MasterGroup. Once Executed, and throughout Death, the Player may not pass on IC information to other Players or Characters. Violation of this is grounds for Banishment or lesser penalties.

In Character (IC):
Actions taken by a Player using their character. Knowledge or activity held or undertaken by Characters which may not be precisely reflective of Players’ knowledge outside the circumstances of the game or their Characters’ experience.

In Real Life (IRL):
Circumstances external to the game which may have influences upon a Player's time, opportunity, or motivation. Very similar to and a chief component of anything handled OOC.

Moderator:
An OOC authority and staff member, answerable to the Administrators, who interprets, applies, and enforces the rules of the game. A Moderator is responsible for issuing Character experience points, arbitrating scenario results, and handling the application and clarification of game mechanics. All Moderators report to the Rules Lead, who is an Administrator.

Multi-Account (Multi):
Short for "Multiple Account User", a Multi-Account comes to pass when a Player breaks the rules of the community and creates and actively maintains more than one Character. Should such be discovered, the Player will be Banned and all Characters (and their attendant personal inventories) belonging to that Banned Player will be deleted from the game.

Out of Character (OOC):
Actions taken or knowledge held by a Player which does not reflect the knowledge or activity of the Player's Character.

Player:
A participant in the game and community. Likely you and every other person you see here.

Post:
A single entry within a Thread.

Thread:
A line of discussion or narrative within a Venue.

Venue:
A specific sub-set of a Category. Also called “forum”. Venues are typically established to contain threads associated with a particular geographic location or interest.
