So...what do people think? So far 6 voted yes and 0 voted no.

Anything else?

I am hoping for a little more discussion but everybody who has a character should be able to see the test thread in IC site. However, you cannot post there unless you are invited to do so.

Please discuss in this thread about that to decide if we want to or not switch to this new edition.

I think we should go for it. I'm not hearing any big complaints about it.
Speak now or forever hold your peace ...

Anyway Ceden and Mask should get started on tailoring the rules to our use.. hopefully it should streamline some things and make it eaiser to implement. A smooth transition to code and we can move onto other things

IF SWCIC were to convert over to Saga Edition, would characters be converted, or remade starting at 1st level?

Characters would remain their current level (same XP). As we cannot directly translate stats, everyone would be allowed to remake their stats and level up appropriately. This would basically allow you to tailor your character however you see fit.

Since I have not heard any objections, I will propose that people who may have a legal copy of the Saga Edition to convert starships, vehicles, weapons, armor, etc from D6, D20 into Saga if they can.

More information on this will be posted but if you contribute, your contribution will be rewarded.

http://www.pathguy.com/starwars.htm

Would this site help in developing, upgrading, and/or maintaining the current or future code?

Also, I have a copy of Saga Edition, so if you need any help, I'd be willing to help.

Rewards? Duly noted. Do you want those Conversions sent to you via email like other stuff Ceden, or should we do something else with them?

I will make a new post in a few days with some information as a baseline. Then you may post it in that thread (so we can call tweak it). After agreement, it will be official somewhere.

I think that the only objection I have with it, and am probalby the only one that's going to bring up an objection at all, is the how the Force is handled.

Jedi aren't D&D clerics. This system is essentially saying, take a character like Yoda and he can only do a little Jedi jumping off a wall once and then have to take a full minute of standing around resting to get that ability back to use it again. Or he could only deflect force lightning once from Dooku once and get zapped the seconde time while waiting to get that ability back to do it again. o_o

Jedi don't pray to gods to get their force ability back. :p

Anyway, that's my objection.

Actually, that's not entirely correct. Without having a book in front of me at the moment, I can't remember exactly, but I believe there is a talent that lets a Jedi spend either a standard action or a move action to 'renew' the use of a Force Power he has already used in an encounter.

Something I noticed though about Star Wars Saga edition.

No offense but I am running a saga edition RP right now. My main problem with it is the lack of material. Yeah they way they made improvements is nice. I like it a lot more then regular D20. But what sucks is the fact that they have yet to place out expansions on it such as equipment guide, species book, starship book, and etc. Which limits what you have to what you can convert. I personally play a trianii. I did the "Conversion" And personally I don't think the conversion is worth it. Even though I love trianii. I also do not like trying to convert the various prestige classes which I find annoying. It also limits then what you can do later since they have so few of them. *shrugs* It's up to you guys but I say nay. If your still deciding.

Well, you have to give WotC time to come out with more stuff. Saga Edition hasn't even been out for 2 months yet. The RCR came out in 2002 (does that make anybody else besides me feel just a little bit older?) and they were still coming out with additional material last year.

Good incentive for our rules guys to come up with some stuff of their own. Smile
Custom rules, better for our own gameplay and style.

Of course, if anyone wants to help out.. we'd appreciate it

Keno, that is for renewing force points actually, not the skills themselves. Its like skill slots of D&D, if you want to use it more than once you have to take more than one slot for that skill.

Additional Material for Saga I think will depend on the response of gamers for this edition. If it doesn't go over well, there probably won't be much since people won't buy it.
