This is an essay contest open for all members of SWCIC. It harks back to the ILC (Imperial Literary Contest) of a few years back.
Basically a category will be chosen/voted on, then contributing members will write a short story about the subject. Using SW Canon from our simulation, no specific characters from Lucas may be used. Using our characters are preferred, and using one's own MG personnel is encouraged.
We will try to use the stories for scenario ideas or back history for our sim.
Basic Rules:
1 winning entry per character per quarter (so 4 per year) so you can only win once per quarter. but if you don't win you can enter each month
250 - 500 words to start. if this takes off and folks are creative we can increase the size of the entry
in English, no points taken off for grammar/spelling since english isn't everyones primary language
a thread on each MG board for members to post there first and have it critiqued by fellow players for canon accuracy
a thread on OOC forum for final post
voted on by all members (1 week time frame)
Rewards:
Winner 700 XP, 200 XP for entering.
Winner will have use of "Literary Contest winner for XXX" until the next contest
A ribbon will be used to denote the winner (and maybe entrants too)
Modifications may be made to rules/rewards before/after the first contest
First contest one dubbed "Battle Lines" will start soon. Each MG will write about their side of a battle. Have them use PC and NPC characters in their MG and so it can use this as "canon" later on as part of Sim history. It can be an actual or "created" SWCIC event/scenario.
