Galactic Empire

The Galactic Empire was established to replace the corrupted Old Republic Senate, and has been dedicated to returning pride, order, and security to a galaxy that has been too long under the heel of ineffectual factionalism, envy, bribery, and petty politics. Sadly, there are those who object to this returning stability and security, and seek to plunge the galaxy back into the darkness and uncertainty of the past for their own selfish profit. Petty charlatans and demagogues strive to disrupt this order, the New Order, and return to the inefficiency and weakness of the Old Republic. The Galactic Empire is committed to the goals it sets forth.

The Syndicate

It is told that a Jedi of old, going out to look upon life, was greatly daunted by the death he saw, “They all eat one another!’ he cried, and called it Evil. This process we examined, changed the verb, and said “They all feed one another!”, and called it good.

Touted as the largest criminal group in the galaxy, ‘The Syndicate’ grew fat and confident in the running of its criminal holdings. With good reason its leaders reposed in a bubble of confidence in their own invincibility. No other criminal group could reach into its sphere without being blasted, and most other groups required their services often enough to both leave them be, and support their nefarious activities. The Syndicates stores of goods, treasures, and finances all but bulged at the seams. Even after the Hutts had lost complete and automatic leadership of the Syndicate those previous views seemed to permeate through the upper levels of the group and allowed dangerous levels of repose, carelessness, and confidence. A harsh and changing galaxy has little room for an antiquated system that cannot adapt to survive and so the Syndicate began to stumble. Like a listing ship first it lost its financial power, then being thrown in another direction its lost its power in the political arena, then its power of fear, and then, finally, its power in any sense of the word. Moving from bastion of strength to a dislocated web of branches, the Syndicate quickly lost its dominance in several key financial areas.

Like any dynasty that begins loosing its hold on its power the Syndicate began to turn and feed on itself. Over a period of time the masters of the Syndicate seemed to disappear as they warred on each other. The name of the group moved from being something tangible to something akin to fairy tale told to scare children of the dangers of crime, and then, eventually, completely forgotten. Only relatively recently has there seen any change to this vague fable-like existence of the Syndicate.

With nothing more than small stirrings of rumor, and nothing solid enough to cause any conviction or certainty as to its history or current existence, the Syndicate has again moved into the annals of conscious imagination. Several criminal organizations have seemed to disappear suddenly and each on turn, with survivors heard to make mumblings of being overthrown by ghosts, by spirits of the Syndicate of old, or by some new and ruthless force. As if plagued by insanity the criminal groups have disappeared, dissolved, or fled and an uneasy silence has befallen the galaxy. No one being quite prepared to utter the name as if it is a reality, yet no one quite prepared to discount it completely for fear of becoming prey to an unknown monster. Nothing has changed from this in the last hundred years or so. No one openly accusing the Syndicate of existing, and no one prepared to discount them.
